Why is cox setting up people internet with known security exploits?
Cox set up my home wifi, which now I realized would have been better if I did it. They still set WPS to default on their wifi routers, this means with the new WPS exploit someone can gain access to your network in 10mins-4hours, thus stealing your internet, downloading illegal stuff which you will be blamed for, sniffing packets which hold usernames, passwords, and cc info thus stealing your identity. This is very easy to do, even 10 year olds can do it now. One tech support guy also told me to use WEP, which i've seen cracked in 2 minutes giving full access to their wifi.
With super antennas that can pick up a signal over a mile away anyone can easily do this.
I would like to know why they keep installing wifi with these giant security flaws? Putting all their customers at risk who probably dont know how to secure their network trusting the technician did it correctly.
Then tech support has no idea what wifi security is, telling me to install anti-virus software or to call the home network support number, which I believe costs a monthly fee. I'm not sure what experience tech support has but in my experience it is very minimal. They tell me to contact the router company when they're the ones who installed it.
When a tech support guy comes and secures your wifi you trust they did it right, if not you should at least provide everyone with directions on how to do it themselves so people are not at risk.
I am just disapointed by the ignorance of the tech support team, they are called technical support because they should know technology. I wouldnt be surprised if none have even secured their own wifi or know what ATSC is.
My last tech support rep Melinda H I think her name was, didnt answer my questions, when she finally said she was back said I had a minute to respond, even though she made me wait 20 minutes, then disconnected after 20 seconds while I was in the middle of typing.
Very very disappointed

Hi duke114,
I can certainly understand your concerns with securing your network, there are alot of hackers out there. WPS is something that is enabled when the router is shipped out, but we also have a WPA key already in place for the routers that we offer as well. This way when our customers connect the router initially there are already security measures in place to prevent outside people from accessing the router. I am aware of the WPS crack, unfortunately there is no 100% way of protecting any router because hackers are always hard at work trying to figure out new ways to gain access. Even disabling WPS does not stop it from being compromised with some routers.
In regards to support, we do have a Home Networking team that fields those types of calls. Our home networking support is $9.99 per month, that will allow the representative to provide assistance with the configuration, connection issues, changing any information in the router.
I apologize for your recent experience dealing with our tech support rep. If all of your concerns were not addressed, please allow me to assist you. If you needed anything let me know, thank you!
