Why are channels temporarily off air?
Food Network, regularly, is black with a notice that says "Temporarily off air. Check back later." This is unacceptable. This is usually middle of the day. What is the reason for this .

There is no general reason for a channel to be off air. That is just a generic message the box gives when ever it can't tune to the specific channel your requesting. Usually this is caused by a signal problem on the specific frequencies for certain channels. Or it can be a issue with channel mapping but I will ignore that for the time being.
Basic troubleshooting is to make sure the cable wire goes directly from wall outlet to cable box and that all connections are secure.
Have many TV and/or cable boxes do you have? Is it happening on all of them?

This wasn't my question, but I have 2 cable boxes and lately, the audio drops out occasionally on both boxes and the video is pixelated as well. This behavior show up on my recorded programs too. This happens every day. I have checked the connections and they are both tight.
Any suggestions?

Hi MT,
As Trikein posted, that message generally indicates there is a signal problem somewhere. If after trying the basic troubleshooting procedure you are still experiencing this issue, we may need to set up a time frame where a technician can come out and take a look over everything. Let us know if you are still experiencing this problem
