whole house dvr getting error 2.1.2.9

When trying to play a recorded show or record a show on my two satellite receivers, I am getting the error 2.1.2.9.  I have powered off all three receivers with no luck  The main receiver seems to work fine.. This started a few days ago...ANy help would be appreciated.  The main receiver does show the other two receivers on the network.  They are just not talking I guess.

Hoyville, I need you to try rebooting the receivers all at one time. Unplug the power cord to all the receivers, wait for 10 seconds then plug in the Host receiver first. Once that is loading please move on to the other boxes and allow them all to complete the download before turning them back on. This should restore your network and remove the error codes. If this does not resolve, we will need to look at your home's levels further.

I recently had the same problem here in Vegas.  I called Cox and had them reset all of my boxes using the automated assistant.  That fixed it.

No way would that permanently fix it. They just did a remote reset.

This fix can indeed be as permanent a solution to the problem as anything is permanent in life.  I suspect the boxes lost communication with each other.  In many cases a good old fashioned reset can correct this.

Why, oh why can't the boxes DETECT a loss of MoCA whole-home connectivity and then re-negotiate their connection FOR US?

Power cycling boxes should NOT be required. It's highly disruptive and lazy programming.

I'll be sure to pass your suggestion along.  One reason I can immediately think of that this would be an undesirable behavior however is it would disrupt otherwise viewable programming.  I think I'd be annoyed myself if my box decided to just keep rebooting itself because nothing was wrong with what I was watching but there was a MoCA problem that didn't impact what I was doing at the time.

Chris L, the suggestion by ATPTourFan was to "re-negotiate the connection", which should be able to be done without disrupting otherwise viewable programming.  With good programming, the box should not need to reboot itself (think Unix, Linux, or Apple MAC vs. Microsoft Windows PC...).

I am highly annoyed at all the bugs and glitches in the whole home DVR, and frankly am sick of rebooting boxes.  I have a precious 30 minutes in the morning to exercise, and when I hit a glitch, I spend 15 minutes re-booting and waiting... sad.
