What is a bonded channel?
What is a "Bonded Channel" and how is it different from a non-Bonded Channel? I was looking up how the lights function on my Motorola SB6120 modem it tells me the solid blue lights on the send and receive indicate a bonded channel. I never heard of a bonded channel before and would like to know what it is..
TIA.

Short answer; Channel bonding gooooooood
Bonded refers to the context of their state, not anything specific about them. Think of it like a multilane highway, with each lane being a different segment of cable frequency. This allows for increased bandwidth and throughput from point A to B. These different lanes are "bonded" meaning that data sent over the connection is split and balanced over the different lanes or "bonded channels".
For a more technical break down, and don't mind the boring language, try here starting page 218.

Wow, that is long and very technical document. Hard to believe that up until about ten years ago I was into tech support and now this looks like Greek to me. But then that was when I got into IT Asset Management and Software Licensing instead. The long and short of what I got out of that Bonded Channel part of the document is it is a good thing. Well, I will see what happens now that with a couple minor changes my modem is now doing a Bonded Channel setting instead of what it was doing before.

Usually problems with channel bonding are signal related. I tried to give a simple explanation but include a technical document for accuracy sake. If your having problems with channel bonding, thats different, I just thought you wanted to know what it is.
To troubleshoot your issue, could you post signal levels to your modem? You can find them at 192.168.100.1. For more info see this video or this website.

No, I am having no problems as far as I can see. I was just wondering what a Bonded Channel was as I have never heard of it before. I was having a problem with my D-Link DIR-655 router (power connecter was bad), so I replaced it with a D-Link DIR-825 router. I then rearranged my cables and just like that I had Bonded Channels. I was considering a new modem (can't decide which would be best) but I am not sure I need one now. Time will tell.
