Webmail Login Practically Impossible
I have used Cox Internet for many years quite happily, as well as the Webmail. But lately, I'd say the past couple of months, it has been an absolute PITA to even log-in to see my mail. Or trying to log-in to any part of Cox for that matter. Most of the time I get a "Webpage Not Available, Connection Time Out" or something like that. Maybe one time in ten I'll get lucky and actually be able to log-in.
I am currently overseas in Moscow, but I did not have this problem when I first arrived here back in December. I could access my webmail just fine using https://idm.west.cox.net/ as I have done for many years in San Diego. But lately, I'm lucky if I can even get the login page to load up. It doesn't matter if I use West or East, same problem, The traffic just isn't getting thru to their server or something. It's no better with webmail.cox.net, same problem.
I have cleared cookies, tried different browsers, tried different machines, and even had the same problem in two separate apartments thru two separate ISPs. It is clearly on Cox's end. My internet access is perfectly normal from here and have no trouble connecting to any other website in the world. I use Cox's webmail to communicate with my business-partners and as my main e-mail.
E-mail simply cannot be that complicated a thing to send across the internet, and a login-page shouldn't keep stalling and timing-out.
It must be a problem with Cox's login service, because often times, when I do actually get thru to my Webmail, everything is normal until I try to LogOut, at which time the same *** problem reoccurrs. It just stalls.
Also, while I'm here, look, if you need to put banner-advertising on my webmail page, fine. But for the love of God, will you set it somehow so that it doesn't cause the screen to jump away when the stupid banner loads up just as I try to click on something? That also reminds me, could the problem be somehow related to the ads? Is the page stalling because it's waiting for an ad to arrive? And do we really need ads considering the fact that we are already paying for this service?
I've been a satisfied Cox customer for many years. Please keep me as such.

Thanks for trying, but I still had the same problem. After several failed attempts, I was able to get to the login page, and then after several more attempts was actually able to login. Once logged-in, all was normal and good. Then after checking my e-mail, I clicked over to the forum here to reply (still logged-in), but then ran into the same problem again when I clicked "Reply". It took many attempts before it finally connected.
I'm using Chrome (but it happens on any browser or machine), and when I get the Connection Timed Out message, it happens when Chrome says "Establishing Secure Connection..." at the bottom of the screen.
A lot of times, I will either get this time-out error after a couple of seconds, and other times the page just spins and spins and spins and spins. It's quite odd to me that a login-attempt would time-out after a couple seconds.
I typically have the best luck when I try to check my e-mail in the morning, which for me is ten hours ahead of Pacific Time. But once the morning hours in California start, the situation tends to get worse, which tells me Cox's server is refusing my connection perhaps due to traffic. I wish I could try it from my home in San Diego, but unfortunately that's not possible at the moment.

You may need to clear your browser's cookies/cache/temporary files since the changes were made for them to take effect.
