I tried to setup IPsec over L2TP but the tunnel not even started. I probably got a bad hardware. I want to access my network from the field; do you have any hardware suggestion? Thanks.
Are you remote or on site? I would suggest first trying to see if you can Ping your router's public IP. Make sure to enable ICMP on the WAN since that usally disabled by default.
Also, do you know what kind of modem that router is connecting to? Could be a gateway or something with a firewall in it blocking access.
Last, I assume your trying to set up a L2TP as a secondary VPN connection and NOT setting L2TP on your WAN. Your WAN needs to be set to DHCP. Then set up a VPN as per page 94 of the manual. Or are you configuring the VPN via a client on one of the PC behind NAT?

Its not a matter whether Cox supports it, its whether the router supports it. What kind of VPN is it?
