video games
Why can I watch Netflix and Youtube flawlessly on my console but when I go to play Call Of Duty or Halo or any game like that it won't let me play and sometimes kicks me offline completely? It is starting to aggravate me pretty badly. Looking for answers on how to fix it without costing me any more money.

I had the same problems a while back. The reason Netflix and Youtube will work is because they can buffer and they do not need a constant connection. Mine would drop about every 30 min and this will not work for games because you need a constant connection with the server. I would check the logs on your modem and also the signal levels.

What are you playing these games on? PC/Xbox 360/etc?
Could you describe the error in detail? Both what it says, and when it comes up. Is it anything like the one in this video?

Really? Could you give more detail? Usually I hear the opposite, that if you connect the game system direct to the modem it works better. What kind of router did you get? Maybe it has something to do with upstream QoS? You have me intrigued.

That is odd. Maybe you actually made your connection a little worse by adding the router, but the "squeeky wheel gets the grease" so the game is kicking and lagging them instead of you now? When before you had less latency, so it would slow you down to match them? Just a guess though.

Still seems like we don't understand the whole situation, but hey, you fixed it, and in a way I would have NEVER thought of. So props and thanks for the feedback. If someone comes along with a simular problem and everything else has been explored maybe I will suggest this thread. GLHF
