Using Tivo HD with a cable card and the Cisco cable adapter box
I am at my wits end with this configuration, and was wondering if anyone else is using a Tivo with the cable card, and the Cisco adapter box. Nearly every single day, I get multiple blue-screen Tivo messages that the adapter box is now "connected". It basically shuts down the Tivo when this happens, and jumps to this warning screen. This happens a lot more on weekends, especially Sunday. Today it was happening about every 15 minutes all day and all night. Some nights are much worse than others, but it happens at least 5 to 10 times every night.
I noticed that when it does it, one of the indicator lights on the Cisco adapter will either start flashing, or stop flashing. Apparently, this device is losing, then regaining it's connection.
If this happens when the Tivo is recording (or pausing a show), everything is lost.
I love the Tivo interface, and frankly, it's cheaper than the Cox DVR gear. Unfortunately, it's driving my entire family (and therefore me) crazy.
If no one has any ideas, I will try one more time to call tech support, but they have told me in the past that there is nothing that they can do.
If I cannot get this resolved, I will be looking at one of the satellite companies.

If you suspect the tuning adatper is experiencing problems we will be happy to exchange that for you. Have you tried Tivo support to see if they can troubleshoot the box any? There is also the possibility of a weak signal issue at the outlet you're using or beyond that a technician might be better equippped to troubleshoot.

I have Tivo Premier. I have a cable card and the tuning adapter. I frequently lose signals on some of my favorite channels and, consequently, programs don’t record. Do I really need the tuning adapter? Can I remove it and just use the cable card? I have no desire to download movies, or purchase other options.
Thank you,
Charlie

The tuning adapter allows you to receive channels that are delivered via switchted digital video or SDV. You can try going without the adapter and see if you are satifised however if you notice you're missing any channels you'll need to resume using it.

I'd run this up the flag-pole in the appropriate TiVo AVS forum:

I had a lot of "drop-outs" early with my TiVo HD XL and my solution was simply to swap USB ports with the WiFi. Now I still lose it every couple months but the whole TiVo should be reset at least that often.
