Using Outlook with Cox Email

I use Outlooks as my email client and it works great when I'm on my home network. But when I'm on another network it receives but doesn't send emails. No messages, the recipients just doesn't get them. Any ideas? Thanks

First, do you have Cox Residential or Cox Business(CB)? I only ask because of your username. If it's Cox Residential the email address will end with @cox.net.

Assuming that it does, the main thing is you have to turn Authentication on and use SSL on 465:

File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Click on your Cox account and click "Change" along the top.

Click on "More Settings" > Click "Outgoing Server" tab > Check Box for "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires Authentication".

Also mark "Use the same settings as my Incoming mail server"

Click on the "Advanced" tab > Outgoing Server (SMTP) set to 465 and set the type of encryption to "SSL" in the drop down.

Click OK > Click Next > Click Finish

I am having the same problem and when the Test Account Settings I get an error

Tasks

Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP)  status = Failed

Send test e-mail message status = Failed

ERRORS

Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): A secure connection to the server cannot be established.

Send test e-mail message: Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.

Anyone else having issues?

What ports and type of encryption are you using for inbound and outbound?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I now have it set up exactly as outlined in Health Edge's note below. Same thing, I receive with no problems but when I send I don't receive any error message but no one receives my email. This doesn't happen on my home network in US but now I'm using a home network in Mexico??

Do you have a Cox.net emaill address?

What ISP are you on? Some block all SMTP servers but their own. You can try port 587 instead of 465, but other then that I'm out of ideas. You would need to telnet or gain access to the email logs to know more. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to post.
