Upload speed decreased dramatically

I'm just curious if you guys have any ideas.

I pay for and I'm used to getting 20 mbps up. Right now I'm getting 1.5 on average, sometimes as low as 1. I'm monitoring my own LAN with a program called Net Meter. Download speeds are still great!

This started the other day when I was streaming on Twitch. Everything was fine, then the stream disconnected. Once I restarted the stream, the upload data was super slow.

Cox says everything looks fine on their end, but here's a screenshot of my speed test I did: http://speedof.me/show.php?img=140524143438-38859.png

I've tried three separate Windows PCs, my phone, and my iPad. I tried two different modems. I tried with and without my router. I've tried different ethernet cables. I've tried uploading files via YouTube, Google Drive, Skype, DropBox, and a few FTP sites. I even tried Cox's own webmail. I'm lucky to get higher than 1 mbps.

I would suspect the cable line, but Cox's own speed test tool on their website works just fine. I get 120 mbps down and 20 mbps up, AND I actually see the results on my LAN using the Net Meter!

I'm really at a loss here. None of my friends have this issue. Cox will be sending out a tech on Tuesday, so hopefully it works out. But I'm pretty confident it's not on my end. Some friends at work think it's an internal routing issue. Has anyone experienced something like this before? Thanks for any advice you guys might have.

I forgot to mention. I have to connect to a VPN to upload to YouTube right now. For whatever reason, a VPN in Texas is a lot faster at uploading, so it's not like Cox is throttling me or anything.

I would also suggest signing into your account at http://www.cox.com and trying the speed test tools there to see what your speeds look like in-network.

Right, that's what I said. I did that, and it works just fine, but in-network is literally the only place that works.

If speeds are ok in-network I don't believe a technician is going to be of assistance in your situation.  Could you try posting some trace route results to hosts you're having issues with?

OK, so I basically have trouble with any site out of the cox nwork. This includes YouTube, Google Drive, various FTPs, Cox's own webmail, etc.

Here's a tracert of YouTube:

I do manage to get great speeds with a Speedtest that goes to EasyTel:

However, when I do a tracert, it's all Cox servers all the way:

I'll post more comparisons in just a few.

Here's a Speed Test to a server in Texas hosted by Skybeam:

Here's the tracert to skybeam.com:

Cox's own webmail is slow. It took me over 2 minutes to attach a 16MB file. Here's a capture of my activity when uploading to it. It never went over 3mbps:

Here's a traceroute of webmail.west.cox.net:

Would it be possible to post the results here?  Those sites are blocked for my by administrative policy.

Here's my testmy result at a little above 2mbps:

Here's my tracert:

Just FYI, I've never had this issue before, I've tried 3 PCs. I've tried 2 modems, both with and without the router. My friends and family are not having this issue. Right now it takes me about 500-1000 minutes to upload a 2GB file to YouTube, whereas I'm used to 15-25 minutes. It's much faster over a VPN, but still takes over an hour.

OK, I edited the posts to have all of the pics uploaded. Here's my speedof.me test:

And here's the trace:

I'm failing to break 3mbps with a large Google Drive upload:

Here is a trace of the IP I was using to upload:

If you have anything else you want me to test, let me know. This suddenly started either late Friday or early Saturday. Due to the variety of tests I've done, I really feel like this is somehow internal to Cox. Is there anyway to like...reset and reconfigure my account so I go through different routers and switches?

Those are all physical things so that wouldn't be doable without pulling the plug on lots of people.  The results themselves don't seem to be showing anything unusual for that matter.   Do you have any of the internal cox.net speed test results you can share?

Hi Chris,

Here are the results, including what I see on my end. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with Cox's Internet Speed Test at all. The problem does not appear to be talking to Cox, but somehow Cox sending my uploads to other parts of the internet.

Red is download, green is upload.

I guess I'm kind of stuck and out of ideas as to what to test next. Did anything change early Saturday? I'll run any tests I need to.

I've uploaded YouTube videos every day for years. Here is what it's like right now to upload a 2.78 GB file. It's been like this since early Saturday. I can't get it to go above 2mbps, and I'm averaging 1mbps.
