Upgraded NEW MODEM DOCSIS 3.0 but speed still caps at 32 mbps!!

Just recently upgraded my modem from Docsis 2.0 to Docsis 3.0 (motorola SB6121) but I'm still get speed 32mbps. I lived in kansas and I know cox just recently upgraded preferred customer from 25 to 50 mbps connection. Anyone having the same issue? From searching the forum it seems like most people having issue with old service code on their account.

I upgraded to the same Motorola SB6141 and was getting dl 60 ul 6.

I just checked the speed again as it is directly connected to my desktop I am getting dl 32 and ul 6.

I was testing prior to installing a new router a Linksys 6300 so can anyone explain this to me-I was getting the speeds now I am not and it is a direct connection to the computer

I did an online chat with cox they said they had to change my internet plan and reset the modem-the cox test is still timing out and my speedtest outside of cox is now 47 cl and 6 ul-I have the preferred so are those acceptable numbers?

I am going to go ahead and deal with the router setup now.

I am connected directly to the modem.  And I have recycled it several times as well.  I just tested it again and was able to get 95 but this is not the norm, and certainly not 150.

@JeremyG

Is that 95Mbps result fairly consistent by chance?  We often see that when a device is being limited by a 100Mbps Ethernet port somewhere.

 Your modem doesn't appear to be online.  I suspect that is probably a symptom of a different problems you're experiencing.  It may be necessary for a technician to come troubleshoot further.

Hi, guys.  I think I'm experiencing the same thing as others in this thread.  Just set up at a new place and was given a N450 DOCSIS 3.0 with the service but only see 30-32Mbs through it.  Any help here before I try to go through phone support would be greatly appreciated.

Hi JD,

I was able to find the account and reset your modem. Please test your speeds and let me know if you are still having a problem.

I'm in the same boat as most other people here.  I recently bought a new modem (Motorola SB6141), and called and had it activated.  Internet is working fine, but I'm not seeing the upgraded speeds yet.  Could you please check my account and make sure everything is in order?  Thanks.

ChrisL, how do I see if the new modem I bought is properly calibrated from Cox? I ran a speedtest after upgrading my account to preferred, and I bought the Cisco DPC3010 modem, called in and Cox said it was calibrated, but it does not seem to be any faster I'd be happy for a response from anyone?

I upgraded my modem from a Motorola SB6120 to a SB6141, and I subscribe to the Premier Internet service, but I have noticed no improvement in speed (I do not use wifi, my home is wired for Ethernet). I emailed Cox support, but they have not been especially helpful. Can a moderator check my modem profile to see if I have the correct one activated? Thanks.

@jetfire

Swapping from a 6120 to a 6141 isn't going to impact your provisioned speed at all.  You may however see more consistent speeds with the added channel capacity.

I also recently upgraded to preferred and have been testing out and getting 20 mbps connection max. Comparing with tests prior to the upgrade, that's only an increase of about 12 mbps. Can you please take a look for me?

With the modem you currently have Preferred is only a 25Mbps service.  That being the case 20Mbps is pretty typical, I'd suggest upgrading to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem which would allow you to take advantage of the recent double speed increase.

I'm in Virginia and guess I'm in the same boat as other folks here -- upgraded from an older Motorola modem to an Arris/Motorola Surfboard SB6141 on Sunday.

Like others here, I seem to be locked/capped at about 32-33 Mbps. I'm on the "Preferred" so I think I'm supposed to be getting closer to 50 Mpbs. I am at least grateful to consistently get 32-33 Mpbs as my old modem's speed variedly wildly (down to single digits).

Tech Support did send a new "activation signal" at my request yesterday, but after some modem reboots it still doesn't show any speed increase.

I'm hoping the moderators could maybe check on this for me? I'm glad to try tech support again, just wasn't clear to me if they knew how to "reprovision," change a code or do something else to get the modem up to the Preferred tier's 50 mbps maximum. Thanks in advance.
