Upgraded NEW MODEM DOCSIS 3.0 but speed still caps at 32 mbps!!

Just recently upgraded my modem from Docsis 2.0 to Docsis 3.0 (motorola SB6121) but I'm still get speed 32mbps. I lived in kansas and I know cox just recently upgraded preferred customer from 25 to 50 mbps connection. Anyone having the same issue? From searching the forum it seems like most people having issue with old service code on their account.

I'd like to setup an appointment then please.

I'll just call or chat cause they are going to need # to reach me at and time slot/day. Would be much easier than post by post and more private.

They want me to wait 24 hrs and call again since there's a ticket open.

Phillip, With the router are you getting a error message for the Wireless connection when you attempt to join the networks name or not seeing your router listed as a available connection?

The ticket you created, or one that was already open? Either way, I would ask for the ticket number so you CAN fallow up in 24hr.

@BubbaGoldstein Are you testing the speeds through a wired connection or through wireless with those results?

I am having the same issue as many people here. Upgraded to DOCsis 3.0 (motorola SB6141). Got speeds around 32mb down, and 10-15mb upload. A service tech came out and did a fantastic job of clearing any noise from the signal. However, I'm still only getting 32mb down. and ~15mb up. He said it may be the modem, so I returned it and bought a new one from a different store, same model as it seems to be one of the few modems sold in stores. Still capping out at the same speeds. I am paying for a premium service of 100mb and only getting 30mb, there is an issue. The tech on the phone just reset my lines and nothing changed speed wise. Any help would be much appreciated, or I am just going to have to drop to a lower tier and pay less for at least a closer speed to what I am actually getting.

Thank you

Same issue as everyone else. Just upgraded to SB6141 and capped at ~30Mbps. Can someone take a look?

I'm in Virginia Beach and just upgraded my modem to Docsis 3.0. I'm on Cox preferred and was told that my account should go from 25Mbps to 50Mbps. Before the upgrade I was getting around 18Mbps down. I am still seeing the exact same speeds. (I'm new here sorry if I'm not posting this properly).

That doesn't sound like a configuration file issue like the others. You would be maxed at 32Mbps. If you were getting only 18 even before the upgrade, there was a problem existing. Do you have your computer connected wired direct to the modem? What kind of modem do you have?

Hello Jimbo87,

I show you have the correct service code and your firmware is up-to-date. I do see low signal strength. Are you using a splitter? If so, try to bypass it and let us know the results.

No splitter, direct line in from wall to modem. They did put a small filter (I think that's what it is) between the coax and modem a while back when they installed whole home dvr. I don't have that service now, should I remove it? Also when I run the Cox speed test, it says I'm in the Northern Virginia service area. I'm in Virginia Beach. Is that normal?

Thanks, I've tried it both wired and via Wifi. Wired gives around 19Mbps, a slight improvement. The modem was purchased from Cox, it's a Cisco DCP 3010.

Gets worse by the day ive seen it in the -13's. Cancelled the tech cause I didn't want any potential charges incurred. Removing the splitter will half the db and I've swapped it out but nothing changes. Guess I just have to live /w crappy service til I find another provider. Figure they'd offer something better for loyalty of over 20+ yrs. Canceling.

Can I jump on this too? I upgraded to a new SB6141 today and during my phone conversation with the young lady I asked if there was anything that needed to be done to make sure I would receive the new and improved internet speeds and she said  everything was done on her end.

My 8 Year old SB5101 Modem allowed me to achieve 25-31Mbps down before the switch; which is the same I am receiving now with my new SB6141.

Thank you very much in advance.

I have the Premier tier and am getting speeds of around 30mbps down and 20mbps up.  Could someone check to see if my account settings need a stern talking to?  I have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
