unable to set up voice mail
I am following the directions to dial either *298 or my Cox phone number to set up my voice mail. It will not accept 269266 nor COXCOM. Instead of a default language and PIN selections, I am told my PIN is invalid or that I must enter exactly 10 numbers. I tried to call support and there was no way to explain this issue to the automated help system.

The reason the PIN isn't working is because you haven't gotten to the part where it is asking for a PIN. If its saying "must enter exactly 10 numbers" then it is asking for your phone number. If it is asking for your phone number, then it either can't detect the phone number you are calling from or it does detect it but doesn't see it listed in it's computer that you have voicemail. The most likely cause for this is either your account doesn't have voicemail, or you do, but the computer that does voicemail hasn't been updated with the correct info saying you do. The easiest way to detect this is just to call your number from a cell phone and see what happens. Does it go to a automated message? Even before Voicemail is set up you should still get a automated message along the lines of "The person you have called is not here". If you don't, something is wrong on Cox's end.
