If your message is an exact quote, and not your paraphrasing
"we need to schedule a site survey so that our TV's don't turn black at the end of the month".

Then that is most likely a scam, taking advantage of the Cox Switch to All Digital. Cox would never use that language.

But yes, a Box will be needed at some point for every TV.

I have a Vizio HD TV, I get digital channels now and a few analog channels.  
Why do I need a box?   Are you scrambling all the channels?

Yes, Cox is or will be encrypting ALL channels even the Locals.

Glad I don't work there anymore.  People will be deeply pissed off.   

If I have to have a box, there's no reason to stay with Cox.   The convenience is gone now. 

We are having the same problem. My mother-in-law and grandmother are having a really difficult time figuring it out, especially with that tiny remote.  We had the convince of using one remote with big buttons for them, but not anymore.  They are probably going to drop and just do the antenna thing now.

Ask for Cisco mini boxes. Pretty sure they work on the same code as the other Cisco boxes Cox uses, so as long as you have a Cisco box now, you shouldn't even have to change the remotes. Alot of the buttons won't work because the box doesn't have those features, but normal channel/volume/power/guide/arrow keys should work fine. That also means, any universal remote that is made for Cisco boxes will work with the Cisco mini ones.

There is a report the Cisco Mini box is actually outsourced to a company called CyberTAN, and the SA/Cisco Codes do not work, as it is really not even a Cisco product, Cisco is just the distributor.

Odd, I was going by the specs by model number. Is it the DTA50?

Called a Cisco DTA 250HD, Cisco does not have a Spec sheet for a DTA 250HD

But appears to be a version of the CyberTAN MSB200

Darn. Does anyone have one to see if there is any info printed on the unit that might help define what exactly it is?  Arggg, more Chinese mass produced junk. I knew Cybertan did SW for Cisco, but did not know they made hardware too.

All the sources word it like "It seems to be" or "It appears". How are they getting this info? Boot screen? Some writing on the unit? Inside source? Not doubting the info, just trying to see if we can get more of it.
