Turn off Cox Browser Hijacking Alerts
Why is there not a way for me to opt out of this?
I find it intrusive, annoying, and false.
I get the popups telling me I have the zero access virus (despite the fact that I do not have the virus/rootkit on my computer).
this should be an optional feature, not something that is forced on us. Nevermind that it is falsely popping up alerts for viruses that aren't there.

Hi notbychoice,
I apologize for the frustration the browser alert has caused. Cox is dedicated to protecting the Internet experience of our customers, and Cox browser alerts are used to inform our customers about several of topics, including virus alerts.
The device that receives the Cox browser alert may not be the infected device. For viruses, we will notify you through a Cox browser alert when a computer in your household is infected with a virus. I recommend that you verify all devices connected to your Cox High Speed Internet service have up-to-date anti-virus and anti-malware software. In addition to Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee® that is free for all customers, there are many other anti-virus programs on the market, both free and for purchase. Learn more HERE.
Also, since the Browswer Alert you received specifically mentions the ZeroAccess Trojan Virus, you may want to follow these Removal Instructions on every computer in your household.

Except I have checked my machines already. There is no infection on my network.
And it's not even the point.
I should be able to opt out of this intrusion.

@notbychoice We prefer to send the on screen notice as a matter of convenience to the customer. The alternative is to quarantine or disable the connection until such time the problem can be addressed. Due to the volume of ticket generated for this issue linked to your connection I'd say either virus scans are missing the infection (which I'd say is likely) or we're detecting intentional traffic to Central America which looks malicious. Tickets for this problem go all the way back to 2013 if that helps narrow down the source. You may wish to call 1-800-753-6085 to discuss further what may be going on.

i would find it hard to believe that the 3+ tools I have tried on all my machines would have missed it.
Since you are able to look into my account, can you email me (to the cox email associated with this account) the IPs where this traffic is going?

If you haven't already try the online ESET Online Scanner, it catches many items most don't.
