Traffic Speed / Streaming Video / Traffic Shaping

I along with several other COX HS Internet users have had major issues with streaming video using our Cox HS Internet Service.  The main topic of concern appears to be that we users are unable to stream HD Video via Netflix as one example on the Cox HS Internet Service.  When we use speedtest.net to test our internet we get blazing fast speeds.  However when we stream netflix it downloads at just enough speed to steam a movie without buffering.  However when the same movie is downloaded using HD resolutions, the movie can not stream fast enough to play or even not buffer every thirty seconds.  I did a little experiment when we were having issues to confirm the source of the problem.  At the same time I could not stream a movie using Cox HS Internet, I switched my Apple TV to use my IPad's Personal Hotspot which runs through 4G service, and I confirmed the same movie streamed in HD to the same Apple TV.  So I know this issue was specific to the Cox HS Internet service.  Now I know that Cox claims to not Traffic Shape data streams, but what I think is going on here is that Cox needs to look at getting a faster path directly to Netflix in order to support their customer base.  You take this email for what it is worth.  I am not requesting support as I generally do most of that myself anyways.  I am only trying to point someone in the right direction of finding a bottle neck in the system that generally works very well but in my opinion needs some tweaking.  I as a customer want to make sure you as a company know what some of your customers think.

I am new to Cox HS Internet service, my first week in using them. I can agree that I get high speed when I do speediest; however while I'm downloading or uploading on one computer I have virtually no internet service on my other computers hooked up through ethernet of wireless. This includes iPad or MacBook Pro.

It appears Cox wants to charge for help in resolving this issue. Are you kidding me? I expect tech support in configuring my new service. Anyone here in the forum can help would be appreciated.

Same issue on Netflix as per above user.

I understand your not looking to troubleshoot, but just state your opinion, and that is fine. I cant say I have ever had a issue with Netflix, but I can say I have had serious issues with Youtube. To my understanding Cox is one of the few ISP that take part in Netflix CDN program, atleast in my area. I can get Super and even Ultra HD on mt PS3 and PS4.

I also don't think Cox uses any shaping other then maybe give Netflix priority. Do you have any actual data to this effect? Maybe a HTTP session showing the throughput? A tracert? If you want Cox to know that they are doing something wrong, it helps to show data on the thing your claiming they are doing wrong.

Thanks for letting us know, is it only Netflix that you see streaming problems with or do you see it on other sites or applications as well at those times?
