Hello,
I have been having frequent issues with an unstable internet connections causing downloads to fail or disrupting an online game I play. I contacted support for the game and they had me send something called a trace report. After I sent this to them they suggested I might have an issue with my router or modem. I have just recently replaced my modem and I was having the same issues before I replaced it, so I think it is likely that the modem I have from COX has perhaps lived its life and is ready for retirement. Is it possible for me to get a new modem?

Could you post the tracert/traceroute?That will show where the problem is. You can always get a new modem, it just depends on how much it will cost, which depends on if you bought or rent the modem.

Here is a screenshot of the report. I wish I had a chance to send this earlier but it has been a busy week. The support person I talked to with this game said that these number were significantly below the numbers for other people with the same internet speed as me.

I was connected via wireless, but I was having the same kinds of problems with a previous wireless router. I didn't get a tracer report on the old router, but the issues were the same.

Looks like your latency is happening between computer and router, or router and modem. Only way to find out which is to bypass the router, go direct to the modem, and test again. What kind of modem and router do you have? What model number?
