This may be a stupid question
Actually, I'm sure it's a stupid question, but I'm not tech savvy so I would appreciate any help you could provide. I am thinking about cancelling my cable, but keeping my internet. I use a cable modem to connect to the internet so I am wondering if by cancelling cable, I will lose the internet. Or if possibly, I will still have basic cable that doesn't require a cable box, but just plugs into the wall instead of the DVR/cable box. Like I said, I'm not tech savvy. I would still like to be able to watch some TV, but I need to cut back on expenses where I can and, frankly, TV isn't a priority at this time. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Having TV isn't a requirement to have Internet. Typically in this situation the technician disconnecting service will install a filter to block the TV signal but still allow you to have Internet through the cable modem.

1. You will have a cable modem that handles your internet after you cancel your cable.
2. You will save a ton. I saved over the last 3 years over $400 doing the same.
3. Basic cable will still cost you at least $100 a year.
4. You can get a HDTV receiver box and an antennae for about $100 if you craigslist it. You save after the first year.
We get like 40 stations for free every month. Half of them spanish this close to the border but all we need is a few stations anyway.
We put the TV in an Armoire and got so much time together as a family it has been marvelous.
Wise decisions! Keep it up!

Thank you! I did cancel cable, kept internet and got a subscription to Hulu Plus where I can still watch all of my shows and movies as well so I'm pretty pleased. I just hook my computer up to my flat screen and don't miss cable at all. :-)
