Temporarily off the air

What is going on with a number of channels showing "Temporarily off the air"?

I called support and they could not find anything.  I did power off and on the DVR which is the one that seems to be more likely to have the problem.  And Channels that were temp off air seemed to be up now.  We'll see how long that last.  I did check connections and they were OK.

I have no channels either and I called tech support they said I have a bad signal and all they can do is send someone out on Tuesday!  That doesn't help my super bowl party today!

Yes, this is very frustrating, particularly as this is one of the biggest television viewing days of the year.  I also have not internet connection, which luckily have a mobile hot spot through my cell phone, otherwise would be SOL with my homework project which is due today.

My HD signal on NBC (channel 1007 in San Diego) during the Superbowl was so bad, tiling and dropping out so frequently--literally every few seconds--that I ended up watching on non-HD.

This has always been a problem with popular shows--like Monday Night Football--and techs have been to my house on many occasions, but the problem is never fixed. That's because insufficient bandwidth cannot be fixed by replacing a couple connectors and some cabling.

The truth that you are not being told is that Cox simply does not have the bandwidth to deliver the services for which they are charging. Time to cut the cord!

Most channels work fine.  About 20 apparently random channels show "Temporarily off the air, please check back later."  I have waited for about 5 days with no change.  Is this a programming issue or a cable box issue?

Odd, but my NBC-HD signal on 1007 was fine both on ClearQAM and through my 8642HDC.

Are you sure that your area hasn't switched to all digital? You'll need a cable box then.

neculae,

The issue with the HD channels in Arizona Sunday night was on the broadcaster's end. I was resolved around 7:40PM MST. If you are still having an issue, I suggest checking your connections and scheduling a technician if it continues.

mindpilot,

Video services are not affected by the amount of people watching in your area. The channels are broadcasted on frequencies just like radio or over-the-air networks. You can have a million people listening to a radio station in the morning and they will all hear it the same as if only 1 was listening. Since you are having tiling issues, something is wrong. Tiling is a loss of signal somewhere. Do you have this problem on all TVs?
