TCM

Since yesterday, 1/14/15, TCM has disappeared from channel 68 on our Cox lineup.  Where is it?

I have also lost Channel 68 TCM. Channel 28 has a message that WGN has moved to channel 68. How do I get TCM?

How do I view TCM on channel 28 without a cable box. This worked fine before the WGN switch. I now get the same message as Movie_Guy.

Why don't people spend a minute or two and do a search of their channel guide? In what state/city do you live?

Using only cable and no "cable box" I still see a msg on 28 announcing it moving to 68 - no 68 on 28.

In your area TCM moved to digital only channel 28 (1028 HD).

Thanks for the email advising that TCM is only available as a digital channel. Without a cable box I am able to receive SD (Standard Digital) on my TV. However there does not seem to be an SD channel 28. I just had my TV do an update on channels and did not find it. Perhaps I am wasting the time off the forum and should contact support. soory if that is true. Ted

Digital channels on Cox are encrypted (conditional access), except for ClearQAM digital channels. Your TV will not receive them.

[BTW, SD means "Standard Definition"]

I am very frustrated with losing TCM and with this forum.  The information is just so vague and doesn't help me understand why channel 28 says that WGN is now on 68 and TCM s nowhere for me.  Can someone explain exactly what I need to do to get TCM back?  I tried live chat and they weren’t helpful.  They blamed TCM.  But the package I have shows that I have TCM on channel 28, but with an * next to it leading to a discussion on digital stuff that I have no idea what it means.  Do I now have to get a cable box, but not a new package to get TCM?  (I don’t have a cable box, and never have had one. I live in Orange County, California)  Or do I need a new package?  Do I need a new TV, and can someone explain what kind without using any acronyms like SD and QAM because I don’t know what they mean.  Neither my old analog TV nor my brand new flat screen are receiving TCM on 28.  I don’t need a lecture full of digital terms, I need step by step instructions on how to get TCM back.  I would think that Cox could have forseen this problem and informed us what to do ahead of time.

TCM,

We will need to look at your specific package in order to determine if you will need another subscription or if it's just on another channel for you. Please email our team at cox.help@cox.com and include your full name, street address, Cox PIN and a link to this post.

How to get TCM: 1)  Get cable box. 2) Get level of service in your area (not county) that includes TCM. [What city are you in?]

Nothing vague about it. TCM is now an encrypted digital channel, and your TV tuner won't tune it. No new TV will help you.

[BTW, I suggest you learn what SD and QAM mean.]

I agree with Kudo !!

My father watches TCM, and he is 90. He doesn't understand those terms either, and would imagine most of the people watching TCM are seniors as well. He doesn't use a cable box, and is very upset about this. Hes wants to switch to another carrier. He also has a fixed income, and not interested in some ploy to get people to upgrade service. I suggest Cox get a customer service person the give a step-by-step response on what people need to do, other than "just call customer service".  This is the reason he pays more to keep cable.

Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

The notice regarding WGN and TCM was included in the "News from Cox" section of your December statement.

Cable is migrating to digital because it is much more efficient than analog technology. Since TCM is now a digital-only channel, your father will need a cable box and subscribe to Cox Advanced TV Essential.
