Supposed loyalty discounts

Anyone else feel like they are getting royally screwed over because they have been a loyal customer of Cox. Seems totally backwards that a company would raise your rate the longer you have been with them. I understand incentives to draw new customers but to treat your existing long term customers like they are dumb and will not notice the fact that hey my bill just went up because I have been loyal and paid my bill every month...hmmmmmm; guess it is time to shop around.

I agree- I am looking at other cable and internet providers.  I am going to contact Cox to see if there is any negotiation  I on the bill.  If not, I am going to change to Uverse- if i can substantiate their service is as good.

What loyalty discount? I have had cox since they installed the cable in our area. Big rate increase in Feb is unreasonable.

In the case of rate increases it would affect all accounts as the cost of programming we pay to provide continues to be a significant driver of rates we charge to our customers. But there are promotions for existing accounts depending on the services and the account itself. If you can email us at coxhelp@cox.com with the account information, I can look into what can be done there on yours.

I have been a loyal customer with Cox for over 20 yrs. and paid my bill every month on time. I have never had a problem with them till now. I have the lowest possible packages with cable, internet and phone. I signed a 2 yr. contract through the mail to keep the rates from rising and received a $100 refund check back. As soon as the 2 yrs. was up they went up from $140/month for all 3 services to $145/month. Two months later, it jumped to $157/month. Four months later, it has now gone up to $167/month. What is the deal? I cannot lower my packages any lower than they already are. Why do loyal customers get screwed? I understand the economy is bad and they have competition, but raising their prices will only lose their customers. I am nervous of changing, but I don't know what else to do. I don't hear good things about U-verse or Direct TV,etc. either. I don't know much about Netflix and such either. My son and I like to watch certain channels. Any suggestions?

I am looking into the same thing, Calling freinds and finding out what they are happy with, We only look at certain channels and rarely use the phone. We got on internet daily. If I find out any good deals I will post it.

A good thing for anyone to do if they haven't done so in a while is to call in and speak to a representative in their local market to review their services. Our reps are trained to help you streamline your services, and often there are various discounts or promotions you can take advantage of.

Just go here to find your local contact number: http://bit.ly/LocalCoxSupportPhoneNumbers (Usually it will be listed as "billing," "account services," or sometimes "customer service.")

Or you can email us at CoxHelp@Cox.com and we can see what we can do, or help you get in touch with someone to assist with your account.

I have been a cox customer from day one--same wire coming from the back yard for 25 years-- so excuse me for asking--What the heck is a loyalty discount?  After adding the Digital service and DVR-- seems like my channel selection stayed about the same but bill just about doubled.. I am tired of asking whats up--so I will probably have that wire disconnected soon..
