Super Slow Internet Connection

For the last several weeks we have been having super slow internet connections. I have included a screen clip of the test I ran from cox.net tonight as well as from Speedtest.net. I have checked with my daughter that lives across the street from us and they have been having the same issues.

@CokeMan

From this end I'm not seeing anything obvious going on that would cause this.  Are you able to try testing a direct connection to the modem to see if you experience the same issues?

This evening my connection was real slow again. I connected my main PC directly to the modem and reran the test. I am getting 9.64 Mb/s down and .15 Mb/s up. This is a regular thing in the evening hours here. My daughter who lives directly across the street has had Cox out several times over the 3 to 4 weeks because of the slow speeds.

Just a suggestion, but bypass any splitters and run coax straight to the wall if you can. Also check for any coax cord dmg or kinks. Cables, just like splitters can go bad so trying a diff cable while testing is worth a shot! Def run direct connected from modem to computer (aka excluding your router from the equation). I'd also disable any firewall prior to testing. It's also best to test on cox.Com via Internet Tools>Check Speed. Those test results not only record to the acct for future investigating with Cox techs, but the test is solely running on their servers so any failures or latency in packet transmission is on their network, not a mix of their network and others beyond when using tests like speedtest.net.  ISPs can't control transmission lag outside their networks. If test results are still poor then try rebooting your comp in Safe Mode with Networking and see if that does the trick. Keep in mind other things that can impact performance is a bad ethernet cable or it's connection at an end point is not secure or dying comp network card. If prob is on multiple devices then a bad NIC for 1 comp and safe mode testing won't matter for the overall, but you'd at least see, with all connection interferences taken into acct, how your svc runs directly. If all is purring fine after all that...time to look at your router. Otherwise, call Tech Support and precisely state what testing you've done to avoid a repeat of efforts. They can run packet loss tests and check for signal issues and determine the next step from there. Hope this helps and good luck!!!
