Streaming video and TV off of Cox Internet

If you drop your internet connection you will have a tough time streaming off the internet   I assume you meant drop phone and TV.  I've been going through the same thought process.  I have dropped my phone service and switched to VoIP using an Obihai adapter and Google Voice.  No issues over the last 4 months, voice quality as good, or better than landline.  The only thing I ran into is you can't directly port a landline to GV.  You must port it to a wireless carrier first (like a TMo or ATT prepaid account) then to GV from there.

TV, the big gotya is the data cap.  When you start streaming make sure you have a plan that provides enough data.  Also, you loose access to any network that requires a Cox TV login, like ESPN.  With the cost of Cox HSI with enough data and the cost of a-la-cart streaming services, I haven't been able to justify dropping TV.  Plus ... my wife is happy with the way TV works and you know, a happy wife .....    If you are ok with major networks OTA and the free or subscription streaming services maybe it will work for you.
