Speed Test times out....
Lately my download speed had tanked! I tried the online chat....worthless! I reset the new modem...check all connections. I try the Speed Check and it times out every time. I tried speedcheck.net and it showed only 1.75 mbps...which is not the 50 Cox promotes!
What's up with the speed test and any suggestions are appreciated!

There is an entire thread on Cox speed test not working here:
http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/6994.aspx
It's been broken in some markets for almost a month now.

From this end everything appears ok with the modem but I do see what appears to be a legacy device attached currently. Could you try testing without the router and see if get any difference?

Chris,
okay....I think you are saying that the router I have may be too old. It is a Cisco Linksys Model WRT 160N V3
If I need a new one what would be Cox's recommendation to optimize the system.
Thanks!

My PC is hooked up directly to the cable modem. According to speedtest.net we are getting very nice 120M download but our upload speeds have tanked. Varies between .03M and 2M. We used to consistently get 12M upload. Online gaming is now impossible. Cox internet speed test times out with latency error.
Reset cable modem. Reset computer. Powered both off for minutes (including removing modem battery) then waited for modem to finish booting before powering computer up again. Unplugged power to computer chassis because I know from experience that can resolve networking issues as the networking card on some computers does not power off unless power cable and network cable are actually disconnected.
How do I get this fixed? Called Cox and got a stupid troubleshooting recording that told me to do stuff my children have known how to do since they were 10. Tried to contact online chat but just get a webpage saying all agents are busy.

If you are getting those type of upload speeds with a direct connection to the modem then we may need to get a tech to come out to the home. The issue would have to be with the equipment or with the signal coming in. Can you please email us at cox.help@cox.com and include your account information? We'll look into this for you.
