Speed sudden drops to under 1Mbps, returns to normal if modem rebooted

I  switched to a new Motorola SB6121 on 2/25.

About two weeks ago I started getting sudden drops in speed. It doesn't die completely, but is slow enough to be unusable. Rebooting the routers brings it back to normal, about 30Mbps.

Coax to the router is about two years old.

Here are my signal levels:

Anything stand out as being wrong? Thanks.

It looks like the modem is logging loss of bonded channel events.  Rebooting the modem would definitely bring back the bonded channels and explain the patter of symptoms you're seeing.  Most likely causes would be a signal or modem issue.  You could try checking your coax cables for any damage/loose fittings or bypassing any splitters you might have access to.  Should that fail it may be time to schedule a service visit to troubleshoot further.

I got rid of the splitter right at the beginning of the run. This brings downstream signal strength to 1 dBmV  , and upstream to 47, but doesn't do anything else.

I still get high speed for several hours, then it drop to under 5 then finally to under 1, then Cox can't even ping my modem.

To see if we can narrow down any more information from the logs and area. Are the signal/speeds dropping at the same times of day or is it a pattern of after its reset regardless of the time it occurs?

Tech came and bypassed the NID and now all is well.  I don't have a phone line anymore, so it was unnecessary anyway.

SNR and speed are way up, errors are way down. Definitely looks like that was the problem.

I did eliminate the splitter right after the NID and terminate unused drops before this, and got marginally better power and noise stats, but still got the periodic failures with no real pattern.

Anyway, good to go. Tech was great. Thanks.

Awesome, glad the technician was able to get that corrected for you.
