Slow Internet with Motorola SB6141
Hey,
So I recently activated the Motorola SB6141 and everything is all set up and going. However, my internet speeds are not up to what I am paying for with the Premier service (50 Mbps in Roanoke, only getting 30 Mbps max). My grandson recently set up the same modem and had similar problems where he was only getting about 30 Mbps. He posted here and someone fixed it so that he got his full speeds. I think it had something to do with the fact that we upgraded to this DOCSIS 3.0 modem from a 2.0 one?
Thanks!

I think you mean this one. If so it was either solved by the modem being re-provisioned and a service change to get Premier for D3, maybe both. I would wait for the Mod, because they can see such things.

Yeah, a mod was able to fix this issue for my grandson. It was apparently an easy fix.

Well in his case I think he had upgraded from one Tier to another, which may have made it simpler. In your case you probably need a service change. If your in a rush, you can call up and "maybe" get that done. Its on the cusp of what Technical Support can do though, so might need for Sales to be open or wait for a Mod here to respond. Let us know how it goes.

This is actually exactly it. They fixed the problem of him having the "DOCSIS 2 Premier code", which I think we also have.

Probably the issue, yes.
This actually would fix itself in a day or two, as we have an automated process now to sync up Premier with DOCSIS 3 modems around the 15th-20th of every month in the affected areas. Sorry about the confusion.

I upgraded to a Motorola SB6141 today, and after set-up I am seeing a similar download/upload speed discrepancy (e.g. slower download speed than old modem, faster upload speed).
Based on what you posted, is it reasonalbe to expect this to be corrected in the next day or so?

@kristoffa99 It should be a automated process that would take care of the modem updates, but I have just sent it to your modem so you should be able to try in a few minutes and test the speeds again.

Hi, Ed. Thanks for the rapid reply!
I didn't get a chance to check the speeds again until tonight after work (not the greatest of times, i know). So far, the download speeds have ranged from ~13 to ~24 and upload is pretty consistently in the 7-9 range.
I get the feeling that it should be faster, but I'm not entirely sure what to expect at this time of night.
I'm not sure if there's anything else you can check on your end, but I'll check the speeds again tomorrow to see if they've changed.
Thanks again!

Ed or any Cox Moderator, I'm hoping you can help me after doing Cox chat and phone support with a Tech. I got the exact same problem with the sb6141. The Tech on the phone has done something to make the downstream go from ~2Mbps to ~15Mbps. The upstream did not change at all with ~1.8Mbps.
Those speeds are still much slower than what I used to get with my older docsis 2 modem. The Chat Tech simply reset the modem. Of course that did not do anything. The Phone Tech says there's no code to change and he does not appear to be aware of the issues and solution that is being mentioned in these forums.
Could anyone here help me since the Cox chat and Cox phone Tech cannot?

The code change only applies to the Premier tier of service, not any other tier, so the tech was correct on that count.
Your upstream power levels are very high with your current modem, so the 6141 was likely having trouble bonding channels. Assuming all the connectors have been secured and there are no damaged wires and no splitters that can be bypassed or replaced, a service call would be the next step.
