Slow Internet speeds despite upgraded service
You would think after upgrading our service level to 150 Mbps we would have no issues with our internet. The increased expenditure each month is likely making this situation even more frustrating. I don't understand why we are resetting our router almost daily and huddling near the device to hope that this will help speed things up. I have a brand new iPad and was very close to the router earlier today and it felt like I was on dial up. I have ordered some wifi extenders to see if they will help but given my experience earlier, I'm afraid the issue is not entirely distance caused. I am renting a Cox approved router DN3000D that is not very old, so I would hope this is sufficient to handle our needs. I would love any recommendations that might help our situation....thank you.

I assume the DN3000D is Cox's number for the Netgear C3000Dv2 N450 gateway, a single band (2.4GHz) wireless n gateway. If so, you won't get anywhere near the 150Mbps you are paying for over WiFi. The best, under ideal conditions, is 40 to 50 Mbps. What speed are you getting?
A brand new iPad will support wireless ac on the 5GHz band. You need a gateway or router also supporting ac to get your WiFi speeds. You may still need an extender or two, depending on placement and size of your home, but everything must support 802.11ac. Please see this article on the real world speeds by WiFi standard.

Thanks for reaching out to us via the Forums! AllenP is correct; you won't see 150Mbps on a wireless connection. How many connected devices do you have in your home? (PCs, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, game systems, Smart TVs, etc.) It sounds like you might want to try a dual-band device, rather than the single-band DN3000D. Is your Gateway located high off the floor, in a central location of your home, away from other electronics that could cause WiFi interference?

Becky, don't forget, not only dual band but supporting the ac standard. You won't get 150Mbps with any wireless n device, dual band or not.
