Slow Internet Loading Facebook
My connection loads Facebook painfully slowly. I have just recently upgraded my Cox Internet speed. It helped some, but my phone is almost instantaneous. My computer loads for 30 seconds and more.

Do other websites work ok? Maybe try some speed tests? Problems with just one site usually won't be a ISP issue.

No, it's not just Facebook. All sites load very slowly. I've done speed tests and upload/downloads are in the 20 mbps range.

Are you connected to a router? Does this happen on more than one computer or device? It sounds like there could be an issue with the connection but we'll need to narrow it down. Have you tried using different web browsers as well?

Could you explain how they are slow? Opening home page? Is using the search engine slow? Does it load nothing for a delay, then snap everything loads in? Or is it a slow download process. If the former, Im leaning towards DNS. If the later, Im leaning towards a antivirus scanner on your PC slowing down traffic.

Searches are fast. It loads a page, then if I try to scroll down I wait and wait, them it loads another piece, then I wait.

So the internet request for the webpage goes through fast, but the page loads slow. If pages are loading slow, but speed is fast, usually its some kind of software issue on the PC. What do you have for anti-virus? A easy work around might be to download Chrome, a free browser (which wouldn't have any possible antivirus ad-ons) and see if thats slow too.

Thanks. I will try Chrome. My security software is the Cox McAfee Suite. I believe I have all the medium to high settings but I will check. Thanks.

Oh, I see. Might start there. See if you can temporarily disable the software and see if it solves the problem. If it does, then you can work with Mcafee so that the program doesn't cause the slow down. Many times security updates can cause issues without you changing a single setting. Using Chrome kind of just moves around the problem, but which ever you prefer.
