Slow Internet - despite Docsis 3.0 (Motorola SURFboard SBG6580) + Cox Premier & only 1 computer using internet

Hi -

I just had Cox premier internet installed, but it's very slow.  Premier is supposed to get you upwards of 100 Mbps download speeds, and 10 Mpbs upload speeds.  I ran a Cox speed test and it says I'm only getting 31.54 Mbps download and 2.77 upload speeds.  Also, my dioceses 3.0 modem/wireless router is brand new and I think is one of the better ones out there (Motorola SURFboard SBG6580), plus I only have one laptop connected at the moment.  I also don't think this is a peak time to be using internet, so aside from the more typical reasons for slow connectivity, can someone troubleshoot why I'm not getting much higher speeds?  Thanks for any help.

The modem was showing old information for the service codes and should be updated at this point, if you test the speeds again there are you still seeing issues?

Thank you so much, EdwardH!  The speeds have now doubled (almost 60 Mbps download speeds/10 Mbps upload speeds).

Just a note - I'm really glad I asked about speed on this forum instead of listening to the tech who installed my service. He called yesterday afternoon to check if I had any issues and, when I asked him about the internet, he was very quick to tell me it was normal, and that I had to be hooked into the modem/router with a cable if I ever wanted to get close to my package speeds, etc. It was just really unprofessional because he acted like he would make up any excuse to shift blame onto some "third-party" cable/device as the source of the problem. Instead, he could've tried to troubleshoot or, if that wasn't possible, at least don't try and convince me that  speeds are normal (with or without a cable, it's still slow).

Anyway, thank you again, EdwardH!
