slow connection

Am I the only one who has lost half of their connection speed? I'm paying for 25Mbps and using Cox own speed test I am getting MAXIMUM 9.75Mbps. I have used 3 other tests and STILL get MAXIMUM 9.75 Mbps. NEW MODEM AND NEW WIFI ROUTER. Last week I downloaded a 1,44 GB movie in 15 minutes @ 15Mbps to 20Mbps BUT now only getting 9.75Mbps.

What modem and router did you get?

Have you tried a speedtest connecting directly to the modem?

And last, what internet plan (tier) do you have? Preferred or Premier?

Same here, ran a speed test yester day and was severely disappointed in Cox; charging me big $$ and providing what they promised. Just ran another speed test and getting .41 Mbps upload; not 25 Mbps I'm paying for. It has been that way for approximately 16 hours at my location, 68123.

@Jmace the modem there is not showing any signal or service code related issues. Are you testing the speeds through wireless getting those results or hardwired? As that it will narrow down what could be causing issues.

@browinejfb with those changes in speeds it may be a load or signal related change there effecting the connection, Are you seeing the speeds being constant between sites when you are downloading or is it a wide difference from page to page?

Wireless. Has always been wireless. Upgraded to a new Netgear modem/router about 4 months ago and all has been well until July 4th. Since then, my speeds have dropped from 24Mbps to .41 Mbps. I have reset everything, cleared caches, history, temp files on all PCs but the connection is still slow. It effects all devices from phones, tablets, game stations and Blue ray to PC connection. I would hard pressed to make a direct wire connection but if it comes down to that....

Run far far away from the CG3000. Its cheap hardware running on even worst firmware. If your renting, ask to upgrade to CG4500

Thanks man, I'll look into it. I thought that 3000 was too good to be true, I only have about $27 into it. Time for another upgrade.

Lo and behold, as soon as the holiday weekend was over and some people got back to work, my speeds went from 0 to 27 Mbps; and I didn't have to do anything but finally talk to the right person. My equipment is fine and always has been. Go figure. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Another cox failure.
