Slow connection in Irvine, tough to get support
It's been a rough couple of weeks trying to get even close to the connection speeds I'm paying for. I pay for Premier, which in Irvine,CA means I should be getting around 30MB download. I get an average of about 4-5.
I had a service appointment yesterday - the tech called at 10:35am, I missed the call. I called Cox back at 10:37 - nope, too late, the technician had already closed the call out and there was no way to reach him.
I pushed really, really hard for an hour on the phone and got a $30 credit for the missed service call. No credit for the low service speed, though.
However, the gentleman on the phone who gave me the credit suggested I get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem and test connected to it. He said - "look, it may not help, but it will eliminate any excuses about your hardware being the problem." I was impressed with his honesty. It's pretty rare. I bought one, installed it, activated it and... no change.
Signal strengths are all good and I have 8 channels bonded. My upload speed is faster than my download, in fact, it's about 6MB, or twice what I'm expecting.
I've looked in this forum and seen a few resolutions where the right coding is put on the account and "voila!" the service levels are good. Sure like to see that here, because something is truly screwy here.
What I'm really, really tired of is "can you reset your modem?" "can you reset your IP address" "can you reset your computer" "can you connect directly to the modem and bipass the router?" I would literally pay an extra $5 a month to never hear that again. Seriously, how often do these things really work? It's a runaround, and a poor one.
Ugh, well, if anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

Some of those reported signal levels are a bit off. Receive should be -10 to +10 on all channels but the closer to 0 the better and the transmit should be minimum 35. A service call would probably be the best way to troubleshoot this further.

Could you go to http://192.168.100.1 and post your signal stats and modem logs if they're available? Perhaps there are some clues there.
