Just purchased a new computer w/ windows and 8 and outlook 13. Having an issue setting up my cox.net email. I receive and error message stating the server can not be found. At one point I was able to get it to send email but not receive. Any tips or advice.

You should use the password for your daughters email account. What ever username and password you would use to sign in here
If it doesn't work there, then you have a password/provisioning issue. If it does work there, then it's a client (Outlook) issue.

That shouldn't matter, since both will use the same username and password. One thing to check is to make sure your using just the username, IE daughter@cox.net would just be daughter.
If your still getting the error, can you post exactly what the error says?

Here are the errors I received:
Log onto mail server (IMAP): The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact server administrator or internet service provider (ISP)
Send test e-mail massage: conot send message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded 550 5.1.0 authentication required.

It looks like it's detecting that your not on a Cox IP and so is requiring username/password for outgoing.
What kind of device is it? Laptop? Tablet? Is it on Wifi or Cellular? If so, you need to use user/password on outbound port 568 with SSL. For more instructions, see here or respond with what kind of device.

And are you connecting to your Wifi via the Cox router? If you go here, does it give Cox as the ISP?
Either way, your going to want to fallow these instructions. Basically you need authentication on outbound email, so take notice of step 2 and 5. Your going want to use the same username/password as inbound, and then for Outgoing server, use port 465 with SSL

Bill1983,
You can use either one of those settings, Cox.net email is setup to handle both. It is a matter of choosing which method you would like to use to setup your e-mail. If you are using Windows 8 with Outlook, I would recommend using IMAP settings.
