Seeking Help With HDHomerun Prime, Moto Cable Card, Moto TR
Using a new HDHomerun Prime with latest FW/SW with Windows 7 Media Center. Already ran Digital Cable Advisor to enable the PC to receive digital cable.
After installing SW abd setting up the HW called COX customer support to get the cable card setup. Gave them the pertinent info and after some time they said it was done.
However I found I was only getting a small subset of the channels I subscribe to. Mainly the locals both SD and HD. I suspect that it is the channels that are clear/unenctypted. Using the HDHOMERUN utility to scan for channels had the same result as trying to tune the channels through WMC.
Looking at the log file, when I change to a channel I get a message logged like:
Tuner1: vchannel 2009 (789MHz-3) access = subscribed
But for the channels I am not receiving WMC gives a message that I need to subscribe to the channel to view it and the HDHOMERUN log file shows access = not-subscribed
I have tried calling customer service but they seem to lack the experience with cable cards to trouble shoot the problem further than "Unplug your TiVo..."
I tried them again this morning and the first person put me on hold and I was disconnected. The second person had me unplug the HDHOMERUN, again. And then reloaded the cablecard firmware.
The result of this is now I don't even get the channels I was getting. Trying to tune to one of the channels I did get gives a message in WMC with the card ID and data info and says to contact the cable provider. The HDHOMERUN log file shows a message that the channel is subscribed to and then another message following it that the status is not-subscribed.
Here is the logfile from booting the HDHOMERUN and when the Cablecard FW was reloaded and then trying to tune channels. The one thing that stands out is that the card validation status shows none and the logfile shows validation needed.

I explained this to the CS rep but he said there was nothing he could do but send someone out.
There appears to be some great technical support available on this forum so I am hoping to trouble shoot and resolve the problem here. I would at least like to narrow it down so I know it is not a problem with something I am doing before sending out a technician.

I can help with this! Honestly, I'm fairly certain that another forum user won't be able to help beyond pointing you in the right direction to get this resolved.
I was able to locate your account based on the email address you used to register for forums. The Host Data ID we had configured on the card did not match what you've posted, so I've updated it. The thing is, usually unpairing the card will result in the device generating a new ID. Please verify that your ID still matches what you posted. If it does, re-run the channel scan and let me know what happens.
If it does not match, the easiest way to correctly update it would be for me to call you, unpair the card and verify the current ID prior to re-pairing. I can use the contact number listed on your account if this becomes necessary.
I await your reply!

Actually it was you I was hoping to get in touch with!
It looks like the Data value is different now than it was originally and when I made my post. The pairing data now is shown as:
In order to start cable service
for this device, please contact
your cable provider
CableCARD ID: 000-081-082-920-0

Feel free to call me at the number associated with my account for any other info you may need. And thank you so much!

It looks like it is working the same as when I first posted. I get a very small number of channels, maybe 10, far less than before which was far less than I subscribe to.
I also found an old status screen and the cable card was showing successful validation prior to the firmware upload this morning.
Thanks again for the help!

I'll be calling you in just a few moments. If I don't get the Data ID while the card is unpaired we'll be at this all day, and I'm sure you have better things to do.
Talk to you soon!

umbarger,
In case you need it for reference, the steps to perform the scans on the HomeRun Prime and Windows Media Center configuration can be found here.

ColleenD:
With your help I am back to where I was this morning. I am getting the same subset of channels as before but many I subscribe to show a status of not-subscribed in the HDHOMERUN log. I tried tuning via WMC and had the same results.
The list of detected channels is given below but even the most basic channels like CNN and TBS are listed as not-subscribed.
Any ideas?
Thanks again for the help!

And this is after you've run the scan on the HomeRun Prime? The signal source also has to be set to cable card. Are the Card Authentication and Card OOB Lock showing "success" ?

Yes this is after scanning for channels with the HDHOMERUN Setup utility. The tuners were set to Cablecard and then scanned. The results are what was in my last post.
The card authentication looks good as well as the OOB lock.

The tuning adapter is a solid amber. The red light blinks occasionally or maybe a very low blink.
When they first set up the cable card and tuning adapter the amber light stayed blinking for about 20 minutes but has been solid since then.

I am going to try reassigning the services to the card and adapter. You'll need to unplug the power to the adapter for a few minutes to reboot it. Your cable box may also reboot.

When do you need me to unplug it?

Whenever is convenient for you will be fine. While it's unplugged, check the coax connection from it to the wall. Is there a splitter on the line? If so, try bypassing it. There's a possibility that the Tuning adapter and cable card aren't pulling the proper permissions. At this point, I see nothing on this end that would prevent the correct channels from coming through.

I powered down and then back on about half an hour ago and it is still blinking. That's like it was before.
The cable in from the wall goes to a two way splitter with one output going to my cable modem and the other goes into the tuning adapter input. Another cable connects from the tuning adapter output to the HDHOMERUN input. That is the same input I had for the regular cable box I was using. I disconnected it and put this in its place.
Will run a channel scan when the tuning adapter stops blinking and then report back what I find.
Thanks again for the great support!
