I have a retail SB 6183 and I see issues in the eventlog as well as what I think are errors on one of the channels. Do I need to report this to cox and have this investigated? Recently we've been having an issue every few weeks where the modem won't issue a DHCP address to my router, even after power cycling multiple times. A call to the automated cox troubleshooter results in a modem reset and then it works again for a few weeks and then we go through the same process to get it going again. I've considered just getting another modem (Netgear CM600-100NAS) but if the issue is with my wiring or at the head end that obviously wont help.
Oh, and as a totally unrelated side note... when is cox going to add two factor authentication to their email???

I looked at the modem from here however no obvious problems stand out. One thing I'd suggest trying is testing with a PC connected directly to the modem to see if it encounters the same lease issues.

DHCP errors are normal in the log. It isn't referring to the DHCP used by your router to get a IP, but the DHCP used by the modem itself to get a private (10.x.x.x) IP from Cox for diagnostic and back end reasons. The DHCP client in the modem is a very simple version since it doesn't have to do much. The DHCP server at Cox is more modern, so the DHCP client in the modem has compatibility issues. Not service effecting though.
Instead, I would be more concerned about T4 warning. Looks like a issue with downstream channel 16. You wouldn't happen to have the modem very close to a 900Mhz cordless phone would you? If not, I would suggest a technician. My gut is telling me it's a outside issue.
Last, what router do you have? Some have DHCP settings which can help, and also check the DHCP lease is set to 2 days.

@Tecknowhelp Thank you for the reply. The router is an inexpensive EDIMax BR6478AC running the latest firmware. It is located directly next to the modem, only 5GHz band is active. I have a 2.4GHz wall mount access point a decent distance away in the center of the house. No cordless phones. The Microwave is also a decent distance away. Your suggesting of interference is interesting. I recently installed a cable amp to boost signal, think that could be impacting things? The amp is within a foot of the modem and the router.

@ChrisL Thank you for the reply. I hesitate to put any device directly on the internet for security reasons. While I understand how taking the router out of the loop is a good troubleshooting step am I not risking much more serious issues in the long term by removing that layer of protection, even briefly?
