Samsung Cable Box GX SM530CF

Have a older Pioneer Plasma tv that uses a cox cable card. Wondering if your company supports the new Samsung Cable box with a card? Thanks

Samsung GX-SM530CF Cable Box and Streaming Media Player

It is a CableLabs Certified UDCP, that supports SDV, Cox MUST support it per FCC Regulations.,  Just tell them it is a TiVo if you have any problems getting the CableCARD paired.

UDCP = Unidirectional Digital Cable Product
SDV = Switched Digital Video

I am hoping this product has great success, which could lead to a DVR version

@bryaninphx By supporting SDV, does that mean it doesn't require a external tuning adapter?

All UDCPs and OCUR CableCARD devices require a SDV Tuning Adapter to access SDV channles

The Samsung Cable Box supports SDV using a SDV Tuning Adapter. as opposed to the older HDTVs with CableCARD support that did not support a Tuning Adapter for SDV.

Technically speaking, Bryan is correct. We don't really even need to know what you're plugging a CableCard into, as long as it's fully compliant it should work.

This is for any cable company if the device is Cablelab Certified they support it, if you get any other answer from a cable company such as they don't support it contact you local FCC office and file a formal complaint.

All companies hate dealing with the paperwork once a complaint had been filed with FCC.

I have a CC device that cox told me they did not support the HD Homerun Prime and once I told the person I was talking to my next action was I would be filing a FCC complaint. They gave a new card to a tech that showed up at my house and did not leave until it was working at no charge.

You will have some  techs that you will get on the phone that if it is not in their manual will only supply you lip service and will not be any help, the sad part is that in not the normal from cox. Ask to speak to their manager if you not getting anywhere.

Kip if it doesn't really matter what the cable card is in why then the need to know the model # and name when using a Tivo?  Why the need to even pair the cable card?

wees41,

What Kip said was it doesn't matter what the cable card is being plugged into. As long as the device is compliant.
