Router / Modem need a power cycle every 2 days

So recently I have been having trouble with my internet. When I power cycle both the router and modem it temporarily foxes the issue for a day or 2 only to be needed to be repeated again. I (at the time) had been using a second generation apple AirPort Extreme for my router and figured it was time for an upgrade. I dropped the big money on the latest gen apple AirPort Extreme and installed it only to have the problem continue. After talking (multiple times) with cox tech support they suggested that it was most likely my modem that was failing. So I went out and purchased one of the better Motorola Surfboard modems and installed that. Since then I went about a week with no issues and finally thought that I had the problem solved, then today...bam. Needed to be cycled again.

can anybody please please help me solve this very frustrating problem, as even tech support seems to be at a loss as to what to do?

Thanks in advance

@Mooch55

If you've only tried Airport routers you might want to try disabling IPv6 on the Internet connection and see if that solves the problem.

There are 4 pages of posts here about problems with the Airport Extreme and Cox's implementation of IPv6.  Try disabling IPv6 in you router.

So, the issues continue. Since my post here I have had a tech from cox come out to the house twice.  All these guys do is check the outlet connections to the wall, fuse box, and street level. I am convinced after further research that the issue is the way COX Cable now handles IPV6. I wonder why I had an AirPort Extreme for years without an issue with COX, but now for he last month or so cox service in general is having issues with them. Just a quick glance on the forums here show that There are a TON of people having the exact same issue. Changing the AirPort Extreme IPV6 setting to "local link only" seems to get me a few days without having to reboot, but for whatever reason after a few days the IPV6 setting changes itself back to the default IPV6 setting.  There has to be a workaround for this. How can cox internet service no longer be compatible with one of the most popular and best routers on the market?

@Mooch55

I looked again and your Airport is still replying when I ping it's IPv6 address so it hasn't been properly disabled yet.  Once that is done I suspect the connection will get better.  As this problem is not apparently specific to any particular Internet provider we're suggesting contacting Apple for assistance if you need IPv6 to be active.
