Roku 2 Setup (does Cox block)

I recently purchased a Roku2 and tried to setup but receive no signal. I tried in 3 different HDMI ports. The setup instructions are very simple (this is my second Roku) Is there something that is blocking the signal?

Cox wouldn't block streaming video; Cox welcomes streaming so hopefully you'll exceed your data rate.

As the setup instructions being very simple, you can see the Roku user guide on your TV screen?  If you can interact with your Roku, the connection to your TV is fine.  Perhaps the Internet connection.  Is it wired or wireless?

If you can't see the user guide, you may have to use the Input Select button on your remote to have your TV switch to whichever HDMI port is connected to your Roku.

Is the light illuminated on the Roku?  All cables fully seated?  What do you have your Roku powered to?  If you're powering it from another A/V component, such as an A/V receiver, you may have to activate the outlet.

No, Cox doesn't do anything to block streaming devices, be it Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, etc.  How are you connecting your Roku to your local network?  Wired or wireless?  By "receive no signal" do you mean nothing is displayed on the TV or you are not receiving a signal from your network?

If you are not getting anything on the TV, have you done the basics, make sure everything is connected and plugged in.  Make sure your TV is set for the correct hdmi input.  Replaced the hdmi cable.  If it's a network issue, please post the details of your network, model of router or gateway, how you are connecting.  Thanks.

Hi Zorbee,

How do you have everything connected?

Everything is setup according to instructions. The no signal is on the tv screen. Nothing from Roku appears to continue with setup. I have done this before so this is something I don't understand. I have 4 HDMI ports on the TV, 1 is used by the cable (Cox) company. I have tried in the other 3 and still get the no signal when I choose the input it's plug into. The Roku is light and the remote is connecting to it. Why can't I get a signal to proceed with setup. I also disconnected and re-connected a few times and tried different HDMI cables. Is the Roku bad?

Maybe its broken? If you don't tell us how it's setup, we can't help.  Maybe try contacting Roku support? Should have nothing to do with Cox.

Okay...according to instructions, you connected all cables, tuned your TV to the correct HDMI port connected to your Roku...but instead, your TV displays "No Signal."

You're right...it's a simple setup and the Instructions are clear.

You can play swaptronics.  Try another TV...another HDMI cable...or exchange the Roku.

Where did you get this?  Roku 2 is an older model.  Is it used?

Actually Roku 2 is a current model. If you don't want/need the fancier remote or 4k support it's the model of choice.
