remove telephone modem
Is there a way to get telephone service without the modem or not over coax? Do you have a voip solution? I run my cable modem and phone modem off the same coax drop using a splitter and the the splitter has been wrecking havoc on my cable modems connectivity. I get service drops for hours on end throughout the middle of the day which is unacceptable. As I said I'd like to get rid of the need for the coax splitter and voip seems to be the solution.

All Cox services are delivered via coax cable to the home so that part would be able to be changed. I think the better solution would be to determine how to get it working the way it is connected. If adding a splitter reduces the signal too much a service call may be necessary to look for signal related problems.

what phone modem do you have? Cox has stopped installing MTU's outside and now use phone modems. Check and see internet should be available via the phone modem.

I have asked this serveral times as well. The new system doesn't allow it. It sucks especially if you have a security / fire alarm system running on that line. Who knows when it will be down... only way to get hardlines these days is another carrier.

The eMTA setup should work just fine with any alarm system. It behaves almost the same way as the old circuit switched system with the exception that power is provided on the modem but still has a battery backup.
