Remote controls power, volume, mute, nothing else.

Remote is a URC 2220 R. New setup with 3 year old Samsung TV. The power, volume, and mute work. Nothing else. Using HDMI. Tried both method A and B. Same results.

Correct!  That's the only functions of the TV it will control.  I does change channels and brings up the guide on the minibox.  That's it ... a real basic RC.  What are you trying to control?

Trying to change channels. Only the power, volume, and mute work. None of the other keys work. Channels, guide, etc... do not work. I finally gave up and disconnected it. The only channel I could watch was TWC since the key pad doesn't work.

Our remotes are automatically programmed to work our cable receivers or mini boxes. Are you trying to use it on a stand alone TV? If so, you will need to use the remote that came with the Samsung or purchase a universal remote from a retail or Solution store.

I am trying to use the remote that came with the mini box to change the channels on the TV that the mini box is connected to. 

The remote isn't much good if only the power, mute and volume buttons work. The number key pad, channel up and down buttons, menu, etc... do not work. 

It is odd that some functions work while others don't.

The functions do not work because those buttons are used on the box, not the TV. The TV will stay on the same channel or input and the tuner in the mini box will change the channel. Are you able to get the picture on the TV? What cable do you have going from the mini box to the TV? Please turn the TV off and back on and tell me what channel or input the TV is on at the moment. -StephanieA

Stephanie the TV is fine. The remote included with the mini box is not changing the channels on the mini box. The only buttons on the remote that seem to work are the buttons that control the TV. I want to change the channels on the mini box. 

I am not at home right now. Last night when I connected the mini box to the TV it went through an initialization process.  Then the TV was on TWC with a picture and sound. I then programmed the remote and could power on and off the TV as well as adjust the volume and mute the TV. When I tried to change to another channel using the mini box remote, nothing happened when I pushed the up and down arrow buttons. I tried to manually change by entering a number as well. I tried to use the Menu button. That doesn't work either. My guess is something is wrong wit the the remote.

Any ideas? I tried the remote that came with the 2nd mini box. Same results.

Figured it out. The mini box was cocked at a 45 degree angle. Adjusted so it was straight. Now it is working correctly. Thanks...
