Refund Request from cox. For those who overpaid on their cox bill and got confused.
Advice from paralegal!
Record your phone conversations when you start talking with the phone rep. Be nice, and ask politely for them to issue the base amount that you overpaid. Basically what happen to me, is that the first time I called and wanted to record my conversation with them she said no I can't. Actually, cox, if you start to record conversations the customer has the right to record.
They said they will issue me a check for $117.86 that takes about three weeks. October 5th is when I am expecting it to arrive. If they
don't issue you a check. You can take them to small claims for for money damages awarded in your favor.
Customers have rights too!

I don't understand this post. So you "got confused" and over paid your bill, a mistake by you, call up and ask the billing rep if you can record the call? Why? Wasn't it you that made the mistake? What were your suspicions?
"If they don't issue you a check."
Ok, that isn't even a sentence.
"You can take them to small claims for for money damages awarded in your favor."
What damages? You over pay, they issue you a check for reimbursement, and your threatening to sue if you don't get it in time? ***, I hope you never become a lawyer.

Would you like for me to check on the status of your refund check? I'm happy to do so. Please email my team at cox.help@cox.com. Include a link to this post, your full name, address, and Cox PIN. I'll do everything I can to help!

Actually, no. It depends where the conversation is taking place.
Two party states require consent from all parties on the call: California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington. Some of these face court challenges, though.
The rest are one party states so you can record in those at will. It gets a little tricky if you're calling and recording from a one party state to a two party state or visa versa. Again, it depends where you are.
But hey, you're a paralegal, do your own research!

Whats ever funnier is if you google her forum username. That might explain some things.

Yes the fact is I am disabled and they have to provide reasonable accommodations according to the ADA act. And no, a lawyer friend of mind told me about that issue.

Thank God I am not in one of those states. We only require one party consent!

I still have no idea what the point of your post was. Were you warning people not to overpay their bills? Was it a complaint that it was taking too long? Either way I don't see how it's relevant to a technical forum. I suggest a moderator lock it.
