Random Internet drops

So for the past couple of days my internet would drop when i play online games (Wildstar). It would disconnect me from the game and i would have to relogg in to connect. Im pretty sure its not the Game client it  self because i also have Ventrilo on and it disconnects from that as well. It is  a very quick drop as in i can immediately reconnect.  I have noticed it occur in the morning around 10am - 130pm. My connection is wired and is the only one wired to the router. I also dont notice any changes to the modem lights when it happens.

The signal strength to the modem is too weak (downstream channels should be above -10 and upstream should be less than 52).

Usually this is because the signal is too heavily split between the modem and the incoming cable from Cox to your house/apartment.

So remove any unnecessary splitters if possible, and/or make sure the cable(s) leading to the modem are connected to the ports that put out the highest signal strength (the lower the number on the splitter, the stronger the signal coming out of that port). Also if you have any T-shaped splitters that say DC-6, DC-9 or DC-12, you want it connected so that the cable going to the modem is on the OUT port (the DC-X port that faces down puts out a weaker signal).

If you aren't comfortable messing with the wiring or can't find any problems with the splitters, you'll need to schedule a technician to come to your home and fix it.

I have the same problem that the internet drops off sporadically. I had a technician come in and he changed the ends of the exterior cable and added a box on the outside wall stating that now the signal is good. As it still was not resolved I coalled again and the second technician said that the line quality is good but the splitter was bad, in addition he went up the pole and hooked of the electricity line which is only required for the phone which we do not have. One week it was good then the sporadic on off occurred again. Today I met a Lady and she was reporting the same issue all in 23452. Modem does not show the drop except it figures it out on its own and if the drop is long enough in duration. I am frustrated as we pay a big amount of money each month and nobody from Cox is searching for the real issue. By the way I even purchased a modem provided by Cox as the initial cure before the technicians came in.

and just had a drop again

Internet on and off randomly,

I can understand your frustration with this, intermittent issues are the hardest to troubleshoot because you never when they are going to happen.  We can look into this issue further for, I am hoping we can get this resolved.  Please email us at cox.help@cox.com and include the account information.  We'll get to the bottom of what's causing all the connection problems you're having.
