The 9865HDC usually uses the URC-8820 remote. I've never tried with the 7820.

Try programming it according to the manual:

You might want to try codes 1877, 0877, 0008 first.

I've heard of people figuring it out however not all of the features will work. You can bring it to one of our solutions stores and swap it for a new on which will work for that box.
