Preferred Internet speed

I understand that Cox has recently double the speed for preferred internet, but I'm still seeing my speed at around 25Mbps.  Could you check to see whether this upgrade has been done in my area.  I live in Orange County, California.

Thanks

Hi tuananhdoan,

In order to take advantage of the speed increase, you need to have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. What model modem do you have?

I do have a docsis 3.0 modem.  It's the Motorola SB6121

Can you bypass your router, power cycle your modem, and test the speeds again? Let me know what you get.

I'm currently at work and not near the router.  I will try when I get home.  Is there anyway that you could check to make sure that the upgrade has been done in my area, just want to make sure?

Thanks

The upgrade has been completed in Orange County. You should be getting 50Mbps/5Mbps. Please test again when you get home and let me know what happens.

Hello

I am in Scottsdale and having the same issues. Seems like it is not a router issue but a Cox issue. I have been on multiple calls/chats with Cox--over 5 hrs! The only result is send a ping to check the modem, clear internet history and reboot modem. Nothing has changed. So not sure what the issue is

I looked from here and everything appears to be as it should on the Internet side of the modem however I'm still showing a device with a functionally obsolete Ethernet port attached to the modem.  Do you have a device with a gigabit Ethernet port you can try connecting directly to the modem and testing again?

I was on the tech support chat this morning and let the agent know that I am using the following router

Asus AC2400 RT-AC87U Dual-band Wireless Gigabit Router

She did not indicate that this was not the proper router. All that she said the issue was that there was an outage in my area-but that doesn't make sense

Something is still not right then as how you still do not have a gigabit link between the modem and the router.  It's possible that there could be a problem with the Ethernet on the modem.  It'll be necessary to try testing further without the router to determine if that may be the case.

@vdass

FYI whatever you changed since my last post appears to have worked from this end.  The link between the modem and the attached device looks much better now.

It seems the channels aren't bonding from here. I suggest getting a technician out. Please email me the account information and a copy to this post to cox.help@cox.com

I looked again and the Ethernet link is back the way it was.  I suspect you have a problem with the modem, router, or the cable between them.  You can try changing Ethernet cables to see if that helps.  Beyond that it may be necessary for a technician to come out and try a test modem to see if that helps. -Chris
