Portforwarding trouble
I was wondering if I could get some help with port forwarding my cg3000d Netgear router. I have been trying to run a server for a while now, and I have looked everywhere I could to try to port forwarding my router, on the internet. I have the port correct (25565 for a Minecraft server), and the Model I have is fresh out of the box, but when I look up tutorials on youtube and portforwarding.com they show a different image on the port forwarding/port triggering screen than mine. I sign into the Netgear internet settings screen, and click on Port Forwarding/ Port Triggering. I click on custom and it shows a slightly different picture than the videos and tutorials. I get a Start Port and End Port for both and Internal port and an External Port. The tutorials I have found, show me a similar model, the cg3000-RG Netgear, and show only a single port, not an External or Internal. When I test this after inserting, and saving the port ( I put 25565 in both start and end ports for both the I Internal port and an External port) my friends cannot join my server, or find it. They simply time out. Any information on what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to fix my problem will be much appreciated. I will be able to give more details if needed. Thankyou

Hi Firedragon, does this manual correctly reflect the screens you are seeing? If so, I see two different screens, one for port forwarding and a different one for post triggering. If different, please post a screen shot of your port forwarding screen, thanks. Port forwarding, as documented in the manual, has a start & end port (if you only want only a single port enter the same in both), protocol, and internal IP. It doesn't contain both internal & external port entries. I know things can change and it's not always like it is in the manual ... a screen shot would really help.
A few questions: does your server have a fixed IP? have you entered it correctly in the port forwarding screen? How is your friend trying to access your server? Are you using a dynamic DNS provider? did you give him/her your external IP?

I did find another screenshot in the Minecraft forum that contains both internal & external ports. Just put the same port number in all four fields, select both for protocol and the correct IP address for your server. Make sure your friend is using your correct external IP address.
