Port number from bellsouth
How long does it take to port an existing Bellsouth number to Cox? I had Cox service installed on 17APR14 and was told that they would have it up and running however... its now 28APR14 and I have received a bill from cox but I still don't have the original phone number ported over yet... I was told that they have completed the transaction (ported number) so like a dumb *** I had the service shut down at bellsouth (internet and phone) to find out that I had to start it back up AND get charged for it from bellsouth so cox could port the existing phone number. So far I have not received the ported number but I did get the High speed internet... (ITS FAST).
1 Should I pay for services not rendered yet?
2 How long do I have to wait to get phone service working?
3 Do I ask for a credit for having to turn on phone service at bellsouth AGAIN until this problem is resolved?

ok.. after 20 days the phone number was finally ported from ATT (Bellsouth) to Cox... Thank you! Now I hope we can get billing to go a little more smoothly for services that were somewhat crazy. Turn off service from ATT after I was told everything was switched then... turned back on at ATT because they were not switched and had to go 20 days waiting to be switched... As far as cox service goes... I think I will enjoy both Phone and Internet service. Internet is FAST!!!!

Depending on the type of port, it can take a few days to process. I apologize for the frustration this has caused.
