Plug Wifi Modem Directly into Wall Outlet
In the last 5 weeks I have lost my wifi connection 3 times and have needed Cox technical help to reboot my wifi. The last technician I spoke to said that I should not plug my wifi into a power strip but plug it directly into the outlet. My question are: does this make sense? what about surge protect for the modem?

There are a couple reasons surge protectors can cause problems. First, if they are cheap or old, they can do a not so well time splitter the power between the different outlets, which makes the power less then steady. Also, most surge protectors/power strips don't have isolated transformer banks for each outlet, so if you reboot your PC or open a big file, the extra power draw can interrupt the power going to the modem, causing it to reset. These fluctuations can be seen as "flaps" when Cox looks at your modem, and thus why they mentioned it.
If your looking for something good to use, try a Isobar. I been using several for a couple years now and they are great.
