Pixellation in the Evening

Why is there so much pixellation problems in the evening lately with a Cox Contour DVR box?  I didn't have the problem until they said they went all digital.  Now it is okay during the day and after 7 or 8 P.M. starts getting pixels and some sound cutouts.

I can confirm this and it started being reported in another thread. It started last week and affects almost all channels. It starts at about 8:15pm PST and went on till 9:50pm. This is the 4th night in a row I have experienced this.

Being Sports , whether HD/SD was unwatchable but most of the channels were the same.

Again, this is not DVR hard drive skipping. I know that because one of my STBs is not a DVR. The only thing I can compare it with is satellite sun outage , except lasting much longer. As original poster said, signal is fine during daytime.

Dianeg,

Are you having issues on all TVs? What channels are you watching?

Most of my pixelation happens on the IFC channel (that is becoming not worth watching due to the number of commercials).  I rarely get drop-outs on the movie channels I pay extra for.

I have 722 in my computer room and the drop-outs are on both the outputs (the 720 beina a dual receiver).

The problem appears to be on the IFC side and not Cox Cable because other channels do not do this.

I also have an older HD receiver in the front room and a 622 in the bedroom.  Granted, we do not use the front room much and I don't usually watch TV in bed so all of my observations are from the 722.

Bottom line.  If your satalite dish is clear of Line-Of-Site obsticles, then you might check the hard-wire (cable) that come from the sat-box on the side of your house to your receiver.  There might be a connector that is loose or the wire itself might be damaged.  If that all checks good, then call Dish and have them send a tech to your house to check your signal strength.

The problem with drop-outs is that there are so many things that can cause them.  If it is only on one or a few channels, blame the feed, if it is on all channels of the same time (HD or Standard) then it is probably hardware (the key word here is PROBABLY as it could still be the Dish Service Center in your area)..

Lance, this is a Cox cable TV forum, not satellite.  Not sure of the purpose of your post.

While I was watching the local channels such as 8, 10, 5, etc.  It would be on both TV's but only after about 8 PM.  Last night the picture was clear on my big TV I usually watch so I'll check tonight and see if it is still clear.

I have been having the same problem for the past several weeks - starting around 7:00pm PDT.  I have tried resetting my cable box - but problems still exists.  Pixelation occurs on all TVs - one with cable box, one with mini box, and with my cable card device. The annoying sound cutouts are more pronounced with my cable box, but I still experience this with my mini box - only to a lesser extent.
