Phone # on TV screen does not appear.
I've read other post and I have followed instructions, I have contour and I had gone to phone tools, phone # on screen is on but the phone # doesn't appear. It worked a few days ago, but not now. Now that I think back it seems to come and go, is that possible? TX

Are you referring to the TV Caller ID Banner feature? The banner appears on the TV screen, but the phone number isn't listed? Have you been able to verify this is happening to multiple numbers that call you?

I don't have Contour and unsure if I have the same problem, but I'll comment.
My Caller ID on TV works. Meaning, both the name and number appear on my TV screen. However, with some calls, the number appears as "Unavailable"...but my equipment displays the number.
For example, the following scammers consistently call me:
- 800-459-8387
- 888-445-8787
- 844-310-2227
Cox can't display the numbers. My Caller ID on TV, Call History on TV and Call History online display "Unavailable." However, all my equipment with the caller ID feature (PhoneTray, Uniden and VTech) can display the numbers. Where did I get the scammers' telephone numbers? Not Cox. My equipment.
What is broken with Cox to not display numbers? It can't be my telephone modem because the servers providing my Call History online also can't display the numbers.

When you are watching TV and press the info button, does the description bar display at the bottom of the screen? If not, the TV picture may be zoomed in, cutting off the banner.

Are you saying that your Phone Tools call history is only displaying "Unavailable" for the calls you mentioned and not the numbers that display on your handsets?

Colleen, yes, my Phone Tools Call History only displays Unavailable for the numbers I listed in my previous comment. It appears all Cox-supported caller ID features (TV and online) can't display the numbers.
However, it doesn't happen for all numbers. Just a few. For example, Cox can display the following scammers' numbers:
- (757) 233-9146
- (210) 627-8613

It only occurs with scammers. I have 5 numbers that Cox displays the caller ID information differently from my equipment. I researched my records, and the following differences exist:
Cox caller ID information in quotes. My caller ID information in parenthesis.
- "Blocked" (000-000-0000)
- "Unavailable" (800-296-1122)
- "Unavailable" (800-459-8387)
- "Unavailable" (844-310-2227)
- "Unavailable" (888-445-8787)
...all the numbers are scammers, spoofers, nuisances and multiple calls.

-Toll Free
-N11
-Remote Call Forwarding
This limitation is for phone tools and not for the phone display itself.

Stephanie...I appreciate your research. However, with computers making phone calls, those are antiquated and annoying rules.
Why hide N11 exchanges? Yes, N11 exchanges are reserved for special services and if a scammer uses one, it's a fake number. But any exchange beginning with a 1 or 0 is also fake. I've received calls from the following fake exchanges:
305-070-0140
309-000-0001
703-123-9876
743-025-2746
000-000-0000
...those fake exchanges appear in my Cox Call History.
Why hide the numbers at all? Just block the fake numbers for us. With this antiquated rule, you're telling us, "you received a call, but we not telling you who it was. Ha-ha, you!"

The short answer is caller ID is simply a vanity feature. I'll be sure to pass your feedback along to our product team.
