Patroit Football games

Will Cox be able to show all of Patroit's football games on television?  Like DirecTV has Sunday Football Ticket... Do you have that?  Please advise because I am frustrating that DirectTV is not showing CBS channel.  Let me know.

Hi Potter,

If you live in the regional demographic area where New England Patriots games are televised on broadcast networks, Cox will be able to show you all of those. All Patriots games this year are on either CBS, FOX, NBC or ESPN.

If you live elsewhere in the country, you won't necessarily see the Patriots on your local CBS/FOX station for an early Sunday game.

It sounds like DirecTV has some regional contractual disagreement with the company that owns your local CBS station. Maybe they're blocking all CBS during this time until carriage rights fees can be negotiated.

Domino was correct about one point: Sunday Football Ticket is a NFL product that DirecTV has exclusive rights to. But if all you want is Patriots and you live in the New England Area, you'll see all the Patriots games with normal Cox expanded cable service (or whatever they call it).

I currently have direct tv and we have lost our fox channel that is supplying the saints games. If we decided to drop direct and sign up with cox, we would not be blocked from this channel? is that correct? does cox have any current disputes with any channels? this is info I would like to know before a decision is made.

Hi bonny,

Every provider has to get permission from the Network to re-broadcast their transmission. Re-negotiations comes typically once a year and are only made public if there is a conflict making a deal. We pay hundreds of millions of dollars annually to TV networks to obtain programming for our customers. Programmers and broadcasters regularly report that their main increase in revenue will come from charging us programming and retransmission fees. Cox absorbs as much of these cost increases as possible, but inevitably the customer has to pay more through retail price increases on their cable television bill, which is why we work hard to negotiate the best price possible for our customers.
