On-Screen Guide Hard to Read for Seniors

I am trying to help my mother who is 82 years young and has pretty bad vision find the answer to how she can view the new "on-screen guide" she inherited yesterday with the new Cisco box installed in her apt. yesterday. She lives in a retirement home and cannot contact Cox directly. I don't know why they had to mess with something that had no problems. The old box delivered an "on-screen guide" that was easy to read and the remote that came with the box was easy to operate and read. I have the same box my mom just got and I have to say I was very disappointed in the new on-screen guide---the blue background with white font--the size of the font--and the overall interface is not good for those with poor vision. The remote is the same way---a big, bulky remote that is black with even more buttons and the type is very small.

Are there any other boxes out there with a guide that is poor-vision friendly?

Someone in another forum discussion complained of this as well and it was suggested she get a TV magnifier screen--I went online and I could not find one that would fit on her screen.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

The guide text size, etc., is adjustable.

SETTINGS -> GUIDE OPTIONS -> OTHER SETTINGS - GUIDE TEXT SIZE

Hi Novel1, hopefully adjusting the font size helped. For the remote, look at the bottom of the remote, do you see an icon of a "light bulb"? Press it and the remote will back light. That might help some as well.

Thanks MichaelJ. I did know about the light option on the remote. She tried it, but it actually makes it worse for her because of her vision issue. I called Cox today and they are sending me a remote that is supposed to be "senior-friendly" with bigger buttons, etc. I'm hoping this will help with the remote issue at least.

I also did not like that the TV shuts off automatically after a certain amount of time---I figured out that answer through the forum.

So the only issue left is the size of the type on the guide and color, etc. Cox told me this morning that my mom may be able to get the old box back or there could be options that a tech would know about that us users don't have access to.

Thanks Kudos for the directions; however, we have set it to "Large" and it still is not readable to her. I appreciate your time.
